Directors Tom Hobbs - Director
Tom is the head coach at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, a Division III affiliate of the NCAA. Tom previously served as the head coach at Centre from 2003-2005, and as an assistant with Indiana Univerity of Pennsylvania (IUP) from 2005-2006. His coaching highlights include three NCAA tournament appearances with IUP (2005-2006) and Centre's first trip to the NCAA D-III Tournament in 2007. Tom was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) and Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year in 2007. His playing career includes numerous national indoor and outdoor tournaments and is complemented by a budding career as an umpire in the USFHA International Development pipeline. Tom also works annually with indoor clubs around the country and participates in development programs both domestically and internationally.
Rutger Wiese - Director
Rutger has served as a special assistant coach for the U.S. Men's National Team and is currently the head coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), an NCAA Division II powerhouse. Rutger has been working with the U.S. Men's National Team focusing on individual skill development and defensive play. His IUP teams have made four consecutive NCAA appearances with Final Four appearances in 2004, 2006, and 2007. In only five years, he is the all-time winningest coach in the program's history. As a player, Rutger was a member of H.C. Bloemendaal in the Hoofdklasse - the premier league in the Netherlands - winning two national titles (1999, 2000) and a European Championship (2001). He retired from playing in 2002. Staff | Balder Bomans - Balder is currently playing at Amsterdam Hockey Club in the Hoofdklasse - the premier league in the Netherlands - as a starting midfielder. Amsterdam is annually one of the top clubs in the league in the Netherlands. Additionally, Balder has played on for the Dutch National Team programs in both outdoor and indoor and brings a wealth of knowledge and fun to the camps. During the indoor season, Balder plays for Rood Wit hockey club. Martijn de Jager - Martijn is a veteran of Hoofklasse competition playing for clubs H.G.C. and Laren (currently). In 2007, H.G.C. were runners-up in the Hoofdklasse with Martijn playing a very important role in the midfield. Martijn shares vision and his individual skills with campers. He is also a great example to campers that they can play high level hockey and still be dedicated students. While competing the past two seasons, Martijn has also been working toward his law degree. Andy Thornton - Andy is currently an assistant coach for the University of Albany (NY) and plays at various club events in the United States. He is also still active with the Scottish National Indoor Team and recently competed at the 2008 Euro Nations Cup in Copenhagen, Denmark. Andy's international experience and his coaching experience at the Division I level in the United States are huge assets to our campers. | Ingwer Wiese - Ingwer is currently playing in the Dutch Hoofdklasse as a forward for H.G.C. At 22 years of age, this is Ingwer's fourth season in the Hoofdklasse and his first with H.G.C. where he recently won the silver medal in the European Championships. Ingwer is also a member of the Dutch Nation Indoor Team where, in January of 2008, he competed at the Euro Nations Cup in Copenhagen where he and the Dutch squad won the gold medal. Wieger Wiese - A veteran of Hoofdklasse and Serie A (Italy's top-level club hockey), Wieger competed for eight years with Dutch clubs Pinoke and Laren as well as Italian club H.C. Bra. Wieger brings his skills, maturity, and gamesmanship to each camp and is instrumental in getting players and teams to think and play at a higher level. Now retired from the outdoor game, Wieger still competes in indoor competition with Rood Wit hockey club. |
